Day 1:   Fairmont Norfolk Hotel,  Nairobi     

Situated in along the Nairobi River in beautiful Kenya, the capital Nairobi is East Africa’s most cosmopolitan city. It serves as an excellent starting point for African safari trips around Kenya. Nairobi is Africa’s 4th largest city and is a vibrant and exciting place, and although it has developed a reputation which keeps tourist visits brief, there are some fascinating attractions: its cafe culture, unbridled nightlife, the National Museum, the Karen Blixen Museum and most notably just 20 minutes from the city centre wild lions and buffalo roam in the world’s only urban game reserve. Make sure you pay a visit to the elephant orphanage operated by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

Day Itinerary

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will clear with customs and immigration procedures. You will then be met by a Sharscott Safaris Representative outside the arrivals hall for transfer to your hotel. You will be assisted with check in formalities.

Day 3: Fairmont Mara Safari Club, Masai Mara         

The Masai Mara together with Tanzania’s Serengeti form Africa’s most famous wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve. The image of acacia trees dotting endless grass plains epitomises Africa for many, then add a Maasai warrior and some cattle to the picture and the conversation need go no further. The undeniable highlight of the Masai Mara National Reserve is undoubtedly the annual wildebeest migration traversing the vast plains of the Serengeti and the Masai Mara. It is known as the largest mass movement of land mammals on the planet – with more than a million animals following the rains. Large prides of lions, elephants, giraffes, gazelles and eland can also be spotted in the reserve. Aside from horse riding safaris and traditional vehicle safaris, hot-air ballooning over the Mara plains has become almost essential.

Day Itinerary

0800hrs: Check out after breakfast. Thereafter you will tour Giraffe Center and Daphne Sheldrick’s and thereafter lunch at the Tamambo at Karen Blixen Restaurant. Thereafter transfer to Wilson airport for your maiden Air flight to Masai Mara scheduled to depart at 1500hrs and arrive at approximately 1600hrs. The Masai Mara National Reserve offering wonderful scenery and plenty of game is perhaps the only region left in Kenya where the visitor may see animals in the same super-abundance as existed a century ago. You’ll be welcomed by Masai dancers and cool eucalyptus-scented towels.

Day 4:   Fairmont Mara Safari Club, Masai Mara         

Day Itinerary

0400hrs: Pick up from the camp and transfer to the balloon launching (1 ½hr drive). The Balloon Safari Adventure begins in the pre-dawn hours and the magnificent view over the park is thrilling. Towards the end of the flight, you rise to a height of 1500 feet for a panoramic view of the twisting Mara River and the savannah below.  After an hour or so in the air, your safari finishes with a flourish: a champagne breakfast in the bush, cooked on the balloon’s burners!

Day spent game-viewing in the reserve with morning and afternoon shared game drives. All meals and overnight at the hotel/lodge

Day 5:   Ol Tukai Lodge, Amboseli National Park        

Amboseli National Park

Located in the southern reaches of Kenya, the Amboseli National Park is renowned for its excellent variety of wildlife such as Masaai giraffe, elephant, lion and cheetah and not surprisingly it is one of Kenya’s most popular parks. The landscape of Amboseli is dominated by the majestic snow cap of Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as open plains, acacia woodland, swamps and the massif of Ol Doinyo Orok. The birding is excellent, especially closer to the lakes and swamps. The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to large herds of elephants among other wildlife species. Other attractions of the park include opportunities to meet the Maasai people and soak up spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world.

Day Itinerary

Early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the camp. Check out will be followed by an early lunch and thereafter transfer to the Ngerende airstrip for your scheduled Mombasa Air flight to depart at 1400hrs to Amboseli. On arrival, at approximately 1500hrs, you will be met by a Sense of Africa driver guide and proceed to your lodge with a game drive enroute. Amboseli National Park lying below the most famous symbol of Africa, Mt Kilimanjaro. Drive to your lodge with game drive enroute.

Day 6:     Ol Tukai Lodge, Amboseli National Park        

Day Itinerary

Day spent in Amboseli National Park with morning and afternoon game drives. On this day, enjoy sundowner at a selected site. Lunch, dinner and overnight at the lodge/camp

Day 7:     Lake Manyara National Park             

Situated in Tanzania’s central-northern region with the Lake Manyara on its east and the Manyara Escarpment to its west, the Lake Manyara National Park offers breathtaking views and a large variety of habitats supporting an array of wildlife.  This small park is home to surprising biodiversity and features a magnificent landscape of acacia woodlands, water forests, baobab strewn cliffs, algae-streaked hot springs, swamps and the lake itself.

The park supports 400 species of bird, and the largest concentration of baboons anywhere in the world. Other species include giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck, warthog, the Cape clawless otter, and Egyptian mongoose. Don’t miss the opportunity to see thousands of flamingos on the lake, the renowned tree-climbing lions, and large families of elephants strolling through the forest.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast at the overnight lodge, you will drive from Amboseli National park to the border town of Namanga where you will clear customs and immigration formalities. Proceed in Tanzania vehicles for early lunch at Arusha Coffee Lodge. After lunch drive west across the Rift Valley towards the Lake Manyara National Park, which apart from its abundant bird life, is known for its tree-climbing lions. Evening game drive inside Manyara National Park if time permits alternatively do a game drive the next day.

Day 8:     Ngorongoro Crater            

Located in Northern Tanzania, the Ngorongoro Crater is best known for its natural beauty and abundance of diverse wildlife; which makes it one of Africa’s most popular safari destinations. Surrounded by Tanzania’s highlands, this UNESCO-listed crater is said to be the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Visitors can look forward to spotting the world-renowned Big Five and a host of other wildlife species including large herds of zebra and wildebeest. It is famed as one of Tanzania’s best tourist attractions offering visitors an array of wonderful activities including excellent bird watching, trekking, wildlife viewing, mountain biking and visiting a local Maasai village. Don’t miss the opportunity to jump on an excursion to the magnificent Olduvai Gorge.

Day Itinerary

Early morning game drive (if it wasn’t possible the previous day), followed by breakfast and check out. Proceed to the Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact caldera in the world. Its enduring charm stems from its overwhelming physical beauty and the abundance of wildlife permanently resident on the crater floor. Arrive in time for lunch and settle in. Afternoon you will visit a Masai Village and local school. Meals and overnight at the lodge/camp

Day 9:     Ngorongoro Crater            

Day Itinerary

After breakfast descend into the crater floor in your 4X4 vehicle for a half-day crater tour. The central bowl, the caldera, has sides roughly 1,950 feet high and a flattish center with a diameter of about ten miles. The crater walls are forested but four wheel drive vehicles will take you down into this primeval paradise of woodland, lake, river, swamp and plain that shelters around 20,000 animals. Return to the camp in time for lunch and spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Day 10: Serengeti             

Southern Serengeti  : The Serengeti together with Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Park form Africa’s most famous wildlife park.  The image of acacia trees on an endless grass plain epitomises Africa for many, and then add a Masai warrior and some cattle to the picture and the conversation need go no further. The annual wildebeest migration through the Serengeti and the Masai Mara is the largest mass movement of land mammals on the planet – with more than a million animals following the rains.  But that is not where the game viewing ends; large prides of lions, elephants and giraffes in grasslands, gazelles and eland to mention but a few.

Day Itinerary

Check out after breakfast and this morning commence drive to the Ndutu area arriving in time for lunch. Ndutu area. Lake Ndutu becomes alive with animals during the migration because it is surrounded by the Ndutu woodlands and the Short Grass Plains, which provide ample cover and food. It is the place to be in between December and March. Afternoon enjoy a game drive in the rich game area. Meals and overnight at the lodge/camp
